The Lindsay Weld Centre for Children (LWCC) is a non-profit approved corporation. Members consist of parents, guardians and dedicated community members interested in providing quality early learning settings. From these members, a Board of Directors (the Board) is formed whose primary responsibility is to maintain and oversee the LWCC’s operations on behalf of the general membership. The LWCC’s Director is hired by the Board to act as chief administrative officer. As such, she/he is responsible to the Board for the direction and management of the Centre.
The LWCC was named after Dr. Lindsay Weld in honour of her outstanding contributions to the field of early childhood education. Dr. Weld’s contributions promoted quality care locally and internationally. Dr. Weld devoted a lifetime to truly rewarding field. Dr. Weld was a member of the North Bay community and retired with the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Dr. Weld’s memory includes countless contributions to the early learning and care profession and has been a positive driving force in ensuring that we continue to take all the necessary steps forward to maintain and strengthen our goals to provide quality care for children.
The programs offered at the LWCC are all licensed under the Ministry of Education. Meeting and maintaining provincial standards regulated in the Day Nurseries Act provides the LWCC with a clear focus on the health, safety and individual needs of the children. Annual inspections and license renewals also provide the LWCC with direction and feedback that monitors the quality of our early learning and care settings under the direction of qualified educators.
